A Message from Mayor Bill Murphy and Supervisor Fred Costello
There is a lot going on at the moment, and we thank everyone in Saugerties for their cooperation and in many cases generous help and brave work in the face of this pandemic.
Lately, the two of us have been doing some work with a group we would like you to know about -- Seasoned Gives.
We've been inspired with this nonprofit's focus on bringing diversity awareness to our community.
We can't think of a busier time for all of us ... and there are many causes at the moment worth donating to. But we would ask you on behalf of Seasoned Gives, if you can either volunteer with or donate to them, or both, please consider it. Your work and/or money will help educate, inspire, empower and promote our low opportunity and
minority populations.
Thanks for considering this. For further information, please visit www.seasonedgives.org

What's the Story with the Trees on Main Street? Why Have they Been Swapped Out/In?
|
If you're observant and have travelled on or near Main Street, you may have noticed that many of the trees have been replanted (during 2019). This was due to damage and splitting of the Bradford Pear trees that had been planted previously (and the tree species being on the invasive list and no longer recommended as a street tree). They have been replaced by Zelkovia Serrata trees (as depicted in the rendering on the right).
